Sunday, October 19, 1:00–2:00 p.m. in the Fahs-Mann room
Those interested in learning more about UUC’s Coming of Age program are invited to join Family Ministry staff for an information meeting on Sunday, October 19, from 1:00–2:00 p.m. in the Fahs-Mann room. At this meeting, we’ll share information about what teen participants and their families can expect from the program this year, the schedule, and we’ll answer any questions participants might have. UUC members who are interested in learning more about becoming a Coming of Age mentor are also invited to attend this meeting.
Registration for Coming of Age is open! Teens and parents are asked to fill out this Registration and Mentor Matching Form together. The 2025-2026 Coming of Age schedule can be viewed here.
Coming of Age (COA) is a rite of passage experience where participants explore their personal and spiritual beliefs. At the beginning of the year, Coming of Age teens are paired with an adult mentor from the congregation, who offers a sense of guidance and perspective. Together, mentors and mentees explore questions about god, identity, life after death, good and evil, justice-making, and personal purpose. The class works together on a service project and creates a worship service. Coming of Age culminates in a solo vigil and the development of a faith statement, which teens share with the congregation during a special service in May.
