Path to Membership
What is the path to membership?
Membership is a considered journey along a meaningful path. Each person approaches this in their own way and time. We honor this and encourage you to do what is right for you. And, we’re here to help you along the way. Below you will find more information about how to begin this journey.
We encourage all prospective members to complete activities in three categories:
Love, Justice, and Exploring UU
JUSTICE
- Volunteer with Homelessness Ministries
- Attend an event with one of the UUC social justice teams
- Donate at a UUC blood drive
- Attend a Faith in Action event
- Read a justice book from the UUC library
EXPLORING UU
OR
- Meet with a staff member or minister AND pick one of the following:
- Watch “100 Years of UUC” video
- Read a book about UUs from our library
Becoming a Member
Once you have completed activities in each of the three categories listed above, there are two final steps to joining UUC as a member:
Confirm Your Pledge or request a meeting with a Visiting Steward to discuss your pledge commitment. By making and fulfilling a financial pledge of whatever size is right for you, you are not only showing a commitment to sustaining this community, but also participating in the planning process for the annual operating budget.
Sign the Membership Book. This can be done at any time by appointment with the Congregational Engagement Coordinator.
Celebrating Your Membership
Each spring, we hold a New Member Celebration. The whole church re-covenants as members during each of the worship services. Members who have recently joined are honored in a welcoming ceremony led by the senior minister and witnessed by key leaders of the church.
