Adult Learning and Insight

Seeking continued growth, learning, and spiritual exploration? Our Adult Learning groups offer space to explore and learn together in community. Email our Congregational Engagement Coordinator to ask about or join any of the groups mentioned below.

Wednesday Forum

The Wednesday Forum has been meeting at UUC for more than 50 years. It is a participatory, drop-in friendly, member-led discussion group. Meetings have offered lively discussion about current events on a local, national, or global scope. Sometimes guest speakers have shared a particular area of expertise, other times participants have started with a topic of interest and gone from there. Regular open mic sessions have also been popular, inviting participants to share views on a topic of each speaker's choice. The group has particularly enjoyed engaging the annual "Great Decisions" series from the Foreign Policy Institute, using their videos and Briefing Book to inform discussions.

Meetings: 1st and 3rd Wednesdays from 11 am-2pm in the Knatvold Room and on Zoom.

Women's Book Group

The UUC Women’s Book Group meets to nurture community through discussing books. We are currently meeting in-person with a Zoom option. We welcome new and prospective members any time! Please contact the group facilitator before attending or bringing a friend. Each fall we vote on the books for the coming year. We consider novels, memoirs, historical fiction, non-fiction, and other genres by a wide range of authors of any gender.

Meetings: 4th Sundays from 4:00-5:30 pm in the Knatvold Room and on Zoom.

Leaders: Marla Murdock and Cindy Rose

Science Book Group

Science Book Group offers an opportunity for members and friends of UUC to exercise our curiosity to explore, discuss, and celebrate the wonders of science and the natural world. Intellectual discourse, reason, and the scientific process has long been a respected and well integrated part of the Unitarian liberal religious tradition. Drop-in attendance is welcome. It is not necessary to have read the book under discussion—listeners are welcome too.

Meetings: 1st and 3rd Tuesdays from 7:00-8:30 pm

Leader: Viv Ilo Veith

4th Principle Dialogue Group

The Fourth Principle of the Unitarian Universalist Association encourages "A free and responsible search for truth and meaning." The purpose of this group is to share and foster productive dialogues, both to explore a variety of topics and to encourage a community norm of conversation and mutual understanding. We believe that deep dialogue leaves people feeling listened to, and that beloved community can serve as a haven from polarization.

Meetings: 2nd and 4th Thursdays from 7:00-8:45 pm in the Knatvold Room.
