UNIVERSITY UNITARIAN CHURCH

Connection & Identity Groups

Seeking to connect with communities of shared identities or life stages? Our Connections and Identity groups offer space for conversation and community building centered around shared identity and experience. Current groups open for drop-in are listed below. Email our Congregational Engagement Coordinator to get connected with a group!

BIPOC Fellowship

If you identify as BIPOC (Black, Indigenous, and other People of Color) and are interested in deepening your connections with other BIPOC UUC members and friends of all ages, come join the BIPOC Fellowship. We meet to be present to one another’s stories and truths, to foster systems of care, and to have fun!

Meetings: 2nd Wednesdays from 7:00-8:30 pm at UUC

Leaders: Gayle Childers and Kara de Maine

Interweave

Interweave is the official name used in the UU family for LGBTQIA (lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender, queer/questioning, intersex, asexual & allies) groups as a common means of identification. Usually we share a potluck dinner, but sometimes we have a summer picnic or whatever else we might dream up. When possible, we'll offer a Zoom attendance option for the discussion/program portion of our meeting. Drop in and join us! Onsite childcare may be available for meetings at UUC if arranged in advance.

Meetings: Every other month on Fridays from 6-8 pm in the Knatvold Room. Contact the church office to find out when the next potluck is.

Leader: Jason Vaught

Men's Group

This group is open to all who identify as male, ages fifteen through one hundred and fifteen!  Each meeting begins with a brief check-in from each member, followed by discussion of a topic that is in most cases announced in advance. Members rotate facilitating the meeting and bringing a topic for discussion. Topics are far-ranging but tend toward emotional/personal issues that men face. While drop-in attendance is acceptable, we prefer regular attendance as schedules permit.

Meetings: 2nd and 4th Wednesdays from 7:15-9:00 pm in the Servetus Room.

Leader: Erik Browne

Youngish

Youngish is UUC's 20's and 30's group. We welcome anyone age 18 to 40ish, or who identifies as being in the life stage of young adult. We want to meet you! We love to explore Unitarian Universalism through fellowship & fun. On Sunday mornings, come find our table during coffee hour to learn more!

Meetings: Weekly at 10 am during coffee hour. Contact the church office to find out about upcoming outings and to join our Discord server.

Leaders: Arlen McEnroe, Kristen Baker, and Morgan Sherwood

Wise Women

We offer support and friendship to those who identify as women of retirement age or considering retirement. Wise Women meet to benefit from one another by sharing life experience and current interests, along with connecting about the joys and challenges of aging.

Meetings: Walking dates on the 1st and 3rd Wednesdays of the month. Meet at 10 am at Magnuson Park. The Wise Women also host monthly potlucks. Contact the church office to find out when the next potluck is.
