Call for Social Justice Steering Committee Members

Please respond by Sunday, June 28

UUC's Social Justice Steering Committee (SJSC) is putting out an invitation to congregants who are interested in becoming members of this committee and helping to coordinate, support, and uplift our church's social justice work.

SJSC's Vision statement:

Centering listening and loving action, the Social Justice Steering Committee empowers and supports UUC members’ transformations into effective and faithful justice leaders for collective liberation.

Skills and qualities that are helpful for SJSC members to have:

  • Commitment to centering our UU values in our social justice work
  • Ability to apply a multicultural and anti-racist lens
  • Strong listening and small-group facilitation skills
  • Willing and able to steward the “big picture” of the church’s social justice work
  • Ability to support and encourage UUC members in becoming effective and faithful leaders
  • Commit to 1–3 full church year(s) of committee activity including monthly meetings
  • Ability to respond in a timely way to phone and email requests.

If you are interested, please contact Catherine Ruha, Walter Hatch, or Rev. Victoria by June 28 and we will arrange an exploratory conversation with you.

Please don’t let the list above stop you from expressing your interest for this coming year or the year after. We can discuss it in our exploratory conversation.
