Wednesday Forum: U.S.-China Relations

Wednesday, February 18, 11 a.m.–1 p.m. in Knatvold and via Zoom

On Wednesday, the Forum will begin the Foreign Policy Association's Great Decisions 2026 program, with Richard Wildermuth leading the discussion on U.S.-China Relations.

Previous U.S. administrations have labeled China a key adversary, imposed high tariffs on its goods, and restricted sales of equipment to the country. The Forum session will consider economic competition, including tariffs, between the two countries; military competition; Taiwan; and political and diplomatic competition.

The Foreign Policy Association booklet with chapters on each topic is available to order at fpa.org for $35 plus shipping. Each session will be led by a Forum volunteer, and introduced by a video from the Foreign Policy Association. We will discuss these topics in future weeks:

  • 3/4:  America and the World: Trump 2.0 Foreign Policy
  • 3/18: Trump Tariffs and the Future of the World Economy
  • 4/1:  Ruptured Alliances and the Risk of Nuclear Proliferation
  • 4/15: Ukraine and the Future of European Security
  • 5/6:  Multilateral Institutions in a Changing World Order
  • 5/20: U.S. Engagement of Africa
  • 6/3:  The Future of Human Rights and International Law

The Wednesday Forum meets from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. in the Knatvold room and via Zoom on the first and third Wednesdays of the month. All are welcome to join. If you are not already on the Forum list and would like to be, to receive the Zoom link and regular notices, please contact the UUC office at office@uuchurch.org or (206) 525-8400.
