Wednesday Forum: The Generation Z Revolt in Nepal

Wednesday, January 21, 11 a.m.–1 p.m. in Knatvold and via Zoom

In addition to the many wars happening now, there has been a surge of internal uprisings led by young people (Generation Z) all across Asia (and some in Africa and Peru), reminiscent of the Arab Spring of 15 years ago. The parallels to the Arab Spring movement are so blatant that these have been collectively labeled "Asia Spring." One of the first, largest, most destructive, and effective of these brought down the government of Nepal in September. What happened? Why? We are about to find out what's next. Will the March 5 elections finally bring forth a truly representative government?  Earl Canfield, who has worked for the past 25 years in Nepal educating these Gen Z students, will highlight how education and technology have excited and incited a new generation of young, democratic leaders.
