"Second Sunday" Plate to WAISN

Sunday, May 17, both services

UUC’s Second Sunday Plate collections serve as a direct expression of our faith through justice and service work. So as not to distract from our spring Music Sunday on May 10, this month our "Second Sunday" plate collection will happen on May 17.

This month's collection will benefit the Washington Immigrant Solidarity Network  (WAISN), a coalition of immigrant-led organizations and individuals, working together to advance the rights, dignity and power of immigrants and refugees in Washington.

At a time when attacking immigrant communities is happening daily, it is even more critical to support WAISN, and their commitment to defending immigrant communities from deportation while advocating for meaningful, systemic change. There are over 1.2 million immigrants and 30,000 refugees in Washington state. There are several ways you might join with WAISN to protect and support immigrant and refugee communities, and you can learn more on May 17.

  • Add your contribution to the Sunday plate on May 17.
  • Give online—select "Special Plate Collection" from the drop-down menu and enter "WAISN May Plate" in the memo line. You may give online today, in the coming days or on Sunday, May 17.
  • Drop off a check in the UUC office, with the memo note "WAISN May Plate."

Stop by the Learning Station in Nathan Johnson Hall after Sunday services on May 17 to learn more about how UUC's support of WAISN builds upon our congregation's long-time engagement in immigrant justice.

WAISN offers several training sessions every month. These sessions provide an opportunity to learn more and to join others in the neighborhood where you live or work, to stand in solidarity with our community and ensure it is safer for all.
