Donation Drive: New Puppy Care Kits

Sundays, May 3 and May 17, at a Learning Station in NJ Hall

Donate your old towels, cloth bags, and plain t-shirts (without any prints or pictures on them)

This spring UUC teen, Sylvia, is putting her faith into action by working with Resilient Hearts Animal Sanctuary and her Girl Scout troop to create supply kits for those who have recently adopted dogs. We are so delighted to celebrate her leadership and encourage you to visit Sylvia at a Learning Station in Nathan Johnson Hall on May 3 and May 17 to learn more about her project and to donate the items needed for her to complete these kids. Read more about the Sylvia's project below.

In joy and faith,

Hi, my name is Sylvia, and I am 14 years old. I am an 8th grader at Hamilton International Middle School. I am a Girl Scout in troop 40655, trying to earn my Girl Scout Silver Award.

The Silver Award is for Girl Scouts in grades 6-8 (Cadettes) and is the second-highest award they can achieve. It encourages girls to take action on issues they care about, develop leadership skills, and create sustainable projects that benefit their communities.

I am planning to organize a donation drive to collect old towels, cloth bags, and plain t-shirts (without any prints or pictures on them) so I can continue my progress. My goal is to create supply kits for people who have recently adopted dogs, helping them cover supply costs. These kits will include homemade toys made from old T-shirts, and I need more of these to complete my project. I aim to assemble 15-20 kits, and since the sanctuary primarily focuses on puppies, they need a lot of towels, and I greatly appreciate cloth bags so I can put everything in them from the kits. The sanctuary (Resilient Hearts Animal Sanctuary) is in great need of towels, as they rely on these donations to care for the animals. I believe this project is a wonderful way to support the sanctuary while involving our community.

Thanks again for helping me out on this,

~Sylvia, UUC Teen
