All who are interested in learning more about UUC’s Coming of Age program are invited to attend an Information Meeting on October 4, 1:00-2:30 p.m. in the Fahs-Mann room. At this meeting, Director of Family Ministry Aria Curtis will share information about the purpose of Coming of Age and what participants can expect from this year’s program. She will also share the final schedule for Coming of Age this year, information about how to register and how to become a mentor. 

Coming of Age (COA) is a rite of passage experience where participants explore their personal and spiritual beliefs. At the beginning of the year, Coming of Age teens are paired with an adult mentor from the congregation, who offers a sense of guidance and perspective. Together, mentors and mentees explore questions about god, identity, life after death, good and evil, justice-making, and personal purpose. The class works together on a service project and creates a worship service. Coming of Age culminates in a solo vigil and the development of a faith statement, which teens share with the congregation during a special service in May. Coming of Age is open to 9^th and 10^th Graders.
