Wednesday, November 5, 11 a.m.–1 p.m. in Knatvold and via Zoom
The Forum on November 5 will discuss Ezra Klein's interview with Steven Hahn, Professor of American History at New York University and a Pulitzer Prize winning historian, about Hahn's recent book, Illiberal America: A History. Hahn's dominant narrative is that the U.S. is a country that has seen the steady expansion of liberal political values and the strengthening of established rights, but that our past has strong and deep illiberal roots. Leila Kipp will lead the Forum's discussion. Klein's hour long interview with Hahn, to be viewed before the Forum, is available at https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=82tk31IHnoY. An op-ed by Hahn on the topic is also available at https://www.nytimes.com/2024/05/04/opinion/trump-second-term-illiberalism.html.
