Thursday, May 8, 7:00–8:45 p.m. in the Knatvold room
All are welcome to drop in on an open discussion about the dynamic of “us versus them.” We see this dynamic play out at every scale, from the global stage to our national politics and sometimes even to our own congregation. How could we better understand this dynamic and interact with it? When is it good to draw up sides, when is it a bad idea, and how do we manage in a world where side-taking is everywhere? And how does the dynamic of “good versus evil” compare to “us versus them”?
No homework for this topic. We all bring plenty of life experience to this issue, and there’s plenty to share.
Upcoming Topic May 22: Our Eight Principles. What do they mean to us as individuals and to the congregation, especially now that the UUA has removed the Principles & Sources from the national bylaws? (May 22 is our last session for the church year.)
The 4th Principle Dialogue Group promotes the “free & responsible search for truth & meaning,” pursuing the congregational goal of Connected Community. We get to know each other and connect to each other through meaningful, open-hearted dialogue. Drop-ins welcome. Homework not required. See more in UU Connect.
