All UUC 20's and 30's are invited to learn what to do if ICE agents turn up at UUC (or elsewhere). Training will be led by Emily Joseph. No registration required.
Since last June, the UUC Leadership Team has been preparing our community in case federal Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) agents attempt to enter our space. We developed a protocol for staff to prevent ICE from entering our space without the proper judicial warrant. We want to ensure our space feels safe for all to worship and participate in our programs and events. Many congregations, medical facilities and schools have done the same. We recently reviewed and expanded the initial ICE response protocol. We have also revised the signs that convey that ICE is not welcome to enter UUC without a judicial warrant.
Led by Emily Joseph and based on the materials created by Roberta Ray, this training will provide background and context on why UUC, and so many other faith communities are preparing for the possibility of ICE coming to the door. You'll also have opportunities to role play scenarios so that we can continue to warmly welcome newcomers, while also keeping all in our community safe as they participate in the life of this church.
