We invite you to join UUC's UU the Vote 2026 effort. Started in 2020 by the UUA's Side With Love team, UU the Vote engages UUs in protecting our democracy and promoting voter participation around the US. Learn more at https://uuthevote.org.
Please join us in our 2026 kickoff event "Empowering Voters, Defending Democracy" Presentation with the League of Women Voters King County President Barb Tengtio on March 21, 1:30–2:30 p.m. in the Knatvold room. She will share with us current legislative threats to democracy and voting rights, including "the SAVE America Act, the SAVE Act, and the Make Elections Great Again Act, which are part of a coordinated attack on the freedom to vote," as Barb described the LWV perspective. She will also talk about what we can do about it, and we will provide an opportunity for some hands on advocacy while we are together.
Please sign up to attend the kickoff on March 21: https://forms.gle/N8aZJSVBnJoxFQX3A
Many thanks to our previous UUC leadership, Gayle Childers and Steve Carlson, for organizing our engagement in this work. Meta Thayer and Betty Williams are taking over as organizers.
This year we will participate in the Center for Common Ground's Reclaim the Vote effort for sending post cards to get out the vote for the midterms. Read about this effort at https://www.centerforcommonground.org/reclaim-our-vote. The Center for Common Ground is a non-partisan, Black and women-led voting rights organization founded in 2018.
We hope you will join us. We have a UU the Vote group in UUC Connect. Please contact Betty or Meta if you would like to be added to that group.
We welcome your participation and input as we engage with the community in this vitally important effort!
