All Ages Services at 9:30 and 11:15 a.m. in the chapel and via live stream
Coming of Age is a rite of passage experience for 9th and 10th graders at UUC. In October, each youth was paired with an adult in the congregation who has served as their mentor—witnessing and wondering alongside the youth—as they transitioned from childhood to the fullness of adolescence. Through discussion, art, and journaling, these teens have begun to articulate their personal values and beliefs. They have further developed an understanding of their own spiritual lives and cultivated rich friendships, based in vulnerability, trust, and a shared sense of mischief. Their year of exploration culminated in a retreat weekend, during which each teen undertook a six-hour solo vigil.
In this service, we will honor this enormous undertaking and celebrate all this Coming of Age group has done together. Youth will share their faith statements; living documents, describing who they are, what they believe in, and what is important to them.
Once a month during the program year, usually on the third Sunday of the month, our entire church community gathers for All Ages services: meaningful, vibrant, and engaging multi-age worship. These services often include stories, embodied spiritual practice and ritual, and easy-to-sing music.
As usual, the Soul Work Table and Fidget Cart will be available in the back of the chapel. We will also have our Prayground set up at the front of the chapel, with additional materials for children to engage with the service topic in hands-on and tangible ways.
Childcare for the youngest children will be available, as usual, in the Children's Suite during both services.
Sunday worship at UUC includes music, reflection, sermon, and connection, with informal Coffee & Conversations afterwards in Nathan Johnson Hall. UUC Worship Services are also live streamed.
