Save the Dates for Tent Cities 3 & 4

Friday, May 15, and Monday, May 25 (Memorial Day)

Tent City 4, currently located on the site of the former Lake City Community Center, will be moving on Friday, May 15. They will head back to the Seattle Mennonite Church parking lot for a full year. Volunteers will be welcomed for preparation on Thursday, 5/14, moving on Friday, 5/15, and clean up of the old site on Saturday 5/16. Please mark your calendar and watch for details coming soon.

Tent City 3 will be moving from their location in the South End up to University Congregational Church in the U District. Their tentative moving date is Monday, May 25 (Memorial Day). Volunteer assistance will be appreciated. Details to come.

Tent City 3 and 4 are self-managed, city-sanctioned tent encampments for approximately 100 people and families which are located on property owned by the city, churches, or other non-profits for periods ranging from 3 months - one year. They are sponsored by the non-profit organization SHARE/WHEEL. Each of these Tent Cities has been located in our parking lot in the past. As part of our Homelessness Ministries, UUC members and friends may provide support related to a move, including helping to prepare the site, physical assistance moving belongings in and out of trucks, assistance in unpacking supplies and materials, providing meals, etc.
