January's Second Sunday Plate to UDFB

Sunday, January 11, both services (9:30 and 11:15 a.m.)

UUC’s Second Sunday Plate collections serve as a direct expression of our faith through justice and service work. This month's Second Sunday Plate will go to support the University District Food Bank.

The University District Food Bank serves over 109,000 individuals and families, many of whom are unhoused. The Food Bank also has a café, rooftop garden, food delivery service for over 450 home-bound customers, and weekend meals for Seattle kids at 18 schools. It helps customers access programs such as Apple Health, childcare, utility discounts, and rental assistance. Finally, it encourages and informs advocacy on a variety of issues.

Our Homelessness Ministries Team identified University District Food Bank as a vital organization the church should support. This recommendation was endorsed by our Social Justice Steering Committee.

Some church members already volunteer at the food bank, and we soon will be providing opportunities for YOU to become more engaged.
