Wednesday, April 8, 1–3:30 p.m. at University Congregational UCC
Over the past year, many in the faith community have gathered with unhoused neighbors to partner in adding more shelter space in our city. Join others from UUC's Homelessness Ministries group to explore ways our congregation might get involved. SHARE-WHEEL (Seattle Housing & Resource Effort and the Women’s Housing, Equity and Enhancement League) has spearheaded grassroots organizing to increase shelter space. The Church Council of Greater Seattle is co-sponsoring the next Faith Shelter Summit.
Wednesday, April 8, 1-3:30 p.m.
University Congregational United Church of Christ
4515 16th Ave NE, Seattle, WA 98105
Doors and light lunch at 12:30 p.m.
At UUC, just like other faith communities, we probably have the capacity to do more. We can do that more effectively when joining with our unhoused neighbors, others from the faith community and city leaders. With the latest Point-In-Time Count likely showing an increase in the region’s homeless population, now is the time to join the conversation on helping more neighbors get into shelter space at night. With Mayor Wilson indicating a need to add more shelter, it's a great opportunity to add our voices.
This third Faith Summit will provide an opportunity to break into small groups to explore new potential resources for shelter, the nuts and bolts of shelter provision, and building the political will for shelter. No registration is needed. If you have questions, or you’d like to learn more about our UUC involvement at the first two Faith Summits, contact Dave Mentz.
