Creating Sanctuary Homes

Tuesday, April 28, 7 p.m. in Knatvold

Do you have a house cleaner, a home health worker or a nanny? If so, your employee is very possibly an undocumented immigrant. It might be time for a conversation.

On April 28 Krista Hanson, a volunteer with Hand in Hand, will visit UUC to talk about how we can create "Sanctuary Homes" for domestic workers. This might just mean letting your employee know that your door will be open to them, that your home will be a safe space for them, if they see an ICE agent outside before, during, or after their work. It might also mean that you are willing to let them use your printer to generate documents. It might mean more.

Krista will discuss her organization, which successfully lobbied the Washington Legislature this year for a domestic workers' Bill of Rights. And she will offer advice on how to make your domicile into a Sanctuary Home.

Interested? Join us in Knatvold at 7 p.m. on April 28.
