The Artique Group: Selected Works

Sunday, October 25 in the UUC chapel

“The Artique Group:  Selected Works,”  will be our art exhibit in the chapel for the next several weeks. All are invited to meet the artists in the chapel immediately following the second service on Sunday, October 25, or to attend the public art reception from 1–3 p.m. that afternoon.  Refreshments will be served.  The exhibit will hang until December 12, 2026.

The Artique Group is composed of five Seattle women artists: Carol Castañeda, Karen Gjelsteen, Barbara Oswald, Margrit Schubiger and Kazue Zon. They first met in workshops with artist, art educator, and creativity coach Jacqui Beck.  Since 2015 they have met regularly to share their work, their challenges,  and their creative process.

The exhibit involves a range of media and themes. Acrylics, multimedia collage, still photography,  and watercolor offer colorful landscapes and dystopian abstracts to engage the viewer’s imagination.  The creative process is unique for each artist, yet through their support of each other it's as if new inspiration flows together. Five artists, five styles, one long friendship.
