Worship services at 9:30 and 11:15 a.m. in the chapel and via live stream
Welcoming reception after each for Rev. Victoria Poling
The first Sunday after Labor Day weekend is UUC’s Homecoming Sunday, when we welcome one another back from summer activities and rhythms. We celebrate the start of our new church year and a return to two Sunday morning worship services, at 9:30 and 11:15 a.m.
Rev. Doug Wadkins and Rev. Victoria Poling, our Acting Associate Minister for Community Engagement, will lead the services, with music by the Loft Choir.
From Rev. Doug:
As we prepare for our homecoming gathering, we invite you to bring a special memento that represents a meaningful aspect of your summer. This could be a photograph of a cherished moment, a program from an event that touched your heart, or even a small stone from your garden. Whether it symbolizes a moment of joy or a challenging important milestone, we want to honor what was important about your summer into the new program year.
You will NOT have to relinquish your object; it will remain with you throughout the gathering. Let’s come together to celebrate our shared experiences and what we bring from this past summer.
Looking forward to seeing you there!
Children and teens are invited to gather in the Knatvold room for their own Homecoming Celebration during both services, where we will hear a story, participate in a water communion ritual, and enjoy a special snack. Children are invited to bring a small memento or symbol from their summer, to contribute to our shared altar.
There will be a reception after each service to celebrate the start of our church year and to welcome Rev. Victoria. (Donations of tasty treats happily accepted!)
Adult learning, volunteering, and justice programs that have been on hiatus for the summer begin returning to regular meeting schedules. Our Family Ministry programs are starting back up too, with small groups for elementary-age children during the 9:30 and 11:15 services, and teens during the 11:15 service, beginning September 28. (September 21 services will be All Ages services.) Sprouts care for our youngest UUs is offered in the Children’s Suite during both services. You’ll begin finding more parent groups and family events on the church calendar, too.
Sunday worship at UUC includes music, reflection, sermon, and connection, with informal Coffee & Conversations afterwards in Nathan Johnson Hall. UUC Worship Services are also live streamed and available for later viewing.
