Friday and Saturday, December 12 & 13 at 10:00 a.m., 3:30 p.m. & 7:30 p.m.
UUC Member Steve Johnson will be offering a "Way-Seeking Mind" talk at the upcoming UUC Zen Group's Silent Forest Retreat, one of several Dharma Talks offered during the four-day event at Rainbow Lodge in North Bend. The event is also available to all via Zoom, on a registered or drop-in basis.
Steve, who has been a member of the church since 2010 and is active in the Loft Choir among other groups, will share reflections on his spiritual journey through religious communities, Buddhist Sanghas, and the meaningful practices he has experienced and embraced. He will speak on Friday evening at 7:30.
Other Dharma talks, sharing Zen teachings and encouragement in justice work and activism, will be given by visiting Zen Teachers and priests, all of whom have UU backgrounds at 10 a.m. and 3:30 p.m. on Friday and Saturday. There will be a Zen ceremony on Saturday evening at 7:30, in which four of our Zen group practitioners (including UUC Members Pamela Pakker-Kozicki and Laurie Ross) will take lay Precepts. UUC Member Marla Murdoch will also be recognized as a Zen Practice Leader.
Thirty-two people will attend this residential retreat, including five as Private Retreatants and 27 in the Zen program, five of whom are from out-of-state (including one from India). Additionally, eight are registered to participate via Zoom, most of whom are out-of-state. Drop-in attendance via Zoom is free, but you are asked to register in advance to receive the Zoom connection and schedule.
