In the Larger Community: Volunteers Needed for Immigration Appointments

Accompaniment Training on Sunday, October 26, 2–5:30 p.m. in North Seattle

UUCers are invited to join others from the faith community to accompany community members to immigration appointments. The next Accompaniment Training , hosted by the Jewish Coalition for Immigrant Justice in partnership with the Washington Immigrant Solidarity Network, will be held on Sunday, October 26.

Show your solidarity by getting trained to accompany community members to immigration appointments and hearings. Join the deportation defense efforts across our state to provide accompaniment to immigration court hearings, ICE check-ins and other appointments. Volunteers provide accompaniment in pairs, so you'll have a partner. Accompaniments happen Monday–Friday during the day, so you'll need availability to volunteer between 8 a.m. and 5 p.m. on weekdays.

You can learn more and register by clicking here. Space is limited and there is a small fee to cover the cost of materials. The location (in North Seattle) will be sent to you after you register. If you want to learn more, Pam Smith Mentz is happy to share more about her experience as a volunteer.
