Sunday, September 7, 4:00–5:45 p.m. at Seattle First UMC
UUCers are invited to join others from the faith community at a special event that brings awareness to the realities of migrant detention. The Detention Lottery is an immersive readers' theater written by immigration attorney Margaret O'Donnell. It provides a first-hand look of an immigration case, as it moves through a judge's courtroom. Learn more about the hidden costs of detaining migrants to our democracy and to our communities, and the effect on millions of US citizens and permanent residents, including millions of children, of our immigration enforcement system.
Following the production there will be a 45-minute talk back with local immigration attorneys.
Ticket proceeds will benefit the Church Council’s Fondo de Grupo. Click here to register. Ticket prices are on a sliding scale. Doors will open 30 minutes before start time. This event will be hosted by Seattle First United Methodist Church, 180 Denny Way.
