In the Larger Community: RISE UP Peaceful Counter-Protest

Saturday, May 24, 5:30–9 p.m. at Cal Anderson Park, Seattle

A Portland-based ministry of exclusion (particularly targeting the Trans community) is planning an evangelism event Memorial Day weekend in Capitol Hill in Seattle, and your faithfully inclusive presence is NEEDED to demonstrate that faith communities are allies and supporters of our Trans Kin.

Unitarian Universalists have been asked to join with other churches to demonstrate faith based love and support for our Kin. We will gather at the north end of Cal Anderson at 5:30 p.m., then move together to the south end where the event is taking place. There will be multiple counter-protester groups there, including Black Bloc; our presence will be one of silent witness.

Wear your Side With Love t-shirts or hats; bring signs with messages of support. If you are clergy, wear a stole or collar.

Come for any portion, and leave when you feel called. We ask that you join us with the commitment to active, principled non-violence (learn what this means here:

The Pink Haven Coalition is a national coalition responding to the treatment of trans and non-binary individuals who need gender-affirming care. The UUC group is part of this effort, in partnership with Unitarian Universalist Service Committee, to create a support network for trans/non-binary individuals and their families who must travel outside their home environments to continue receiving care.
