Sunday Worship Services
Most of the year (after Labor Day and through the first weekend of June), we have two Sunday morning services, the first starting at 9:30 a.m. and the second at 11:15 a.m. During the summer months, we have one Sunday service, at 10:00 a.m.
Just before services, parents are often busy taking children to their church school classes, and members are greeting newcomers and old friends. Please feel free to join us in Nathan Johnson Hall on any Sunday for a quick cup of coffee and chat before or after the service. If you have questions about Sunday activities, please ask any Greeter or visit the Sunday morning Information station in Nathan Johnson Hall.
Services are filled with music—hymns sung by the congregation year round, and music by the Loft Choir, Intergenerational Choir, or Handbell Choir from September through May. The church often delights to vocal or instrumental solos.
After the service, people are invited to linger in Nathan Johnson Hall to meet and visit with one another and enjoy coffee, tea, and a cookie or two. Stop by the kitchen window for gluten-free or vegan cookies or juice boxes for children.
Along the counter on the west wall in Nathan Johnson Hall, you’ll find our UUC Information Stations. These stations offer information UUC and its programs, with rotating slideshows, brochures and handouts, along with leaders who would love to greet you and answer your questions. You can also fill out a UUC Connections request on-line anytime or at the UUC Connections infor station at this counter each Sunday. There’s also a brochure rack outside the church office downstairs. And, you are always welcome to visit the church office with questions or just to say hello to our volunteers and staff. The church office is open Sunday through Thursday, 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. and by appointment.
Please see or subscribe to the weekly church newsletter for details on upcoming services. We also encourage you to view the church-wide calendar for other opportunities to experience UUC through our church programs. You don’t have to be a member of the church to become involved in most programs and activities here. Most classes and gatherings are open to all on a drop-in basis. A few require advance registration. The calendar will help advise you, and if you have questions, contact the church office.
Religious Education for Children and Youth
From mid-September to June, church school, youth group, and infant/toddler care are in full swing. During the summer, we offer simplified children’s programs and childcare for infants and toddlers. High school youth who are well established in the program are able to attend regional and national youth conferences and programs, too, including occasional service-learning trips. You can read more about the church school, including the curricula, activities, and programs, at the Religious Education page.
Wednesday Evening Vespers Service
We offer an evening Vespers service on the second and fourth Wednesdays of each month. It is a mix of words, music, and candle lighting, with ways to participate or to just receive. Find the Zoom link in UUC Connect or contact the church office.
