Thank you, UUC! Kudos to our congregation for living into our principles by deciding to host Tent City 3 (TC3). And thanks to so many of you who have already stepped up to:
- Help Tent City 3 with the significant effort required to “pull up stakes” (TC3 must repeat this effort every 3 months!) and assist with the move from the UW campus to the southern part of our parking lot. Volunteers enjoyed both the communal “barn-raising” feel of accomplishing a big project, and the opportunity to begin to get to know some of the TC3 residents.
- Prepare and serve lunch to the TC3 residents and volunteers on Saturday. (Our partners at Congregation Beth Shalom provided breakfast.)
- Participate in the Coming of Age group’s welcome dinner for Tent City 3 residents on their first Sunday evening at UUC.
- Donate items needed by TC3, including many brought to Sunday’s services for blessing ceremonies.
- Volunteer this week for the first of several Wednesday evening dinners UUC will provide while TC3 is in residence.
Many TC3 residents have expressed their appreciation for the warm welcome reflected in all of your efforts. And, one resident observed, and appreciated, that our site is noticeably warmer, temperature-wise, than the UW site as well!
Parking Report
Last, but certainly not least, thanks to the many attendees of Sunday’s services who heeded our request to park a bit farther away from the church than usual, or to find alternative forms of transportation. On last Sunday, at least, parking proved not to be an issue, with plenty of spaces available within a couple blocks of the church, as well as in the UUC parking lot. Continued thoughtfulness about parking will no doubt be needed, especially when we are not blessed with warm, dry weather, but don’t let concerns about parking keep you away on Sunday.
