What is Dialogue?

Thursday, June 2, 7–8:30 p.m. in the King room

"I believe in a free and responsible search for truth and meaning" and a chalice in a double circle

What are dialogue, conversation, discussion, debate, discourse? UUC’s 4th Principle Dialogue Group selected “dialogue” deliberately to capture the elements that distinguish it from the others. In our meeting, we will explore the differences to understand how our choice of communication determines how open or closed people and groups can be to finding ways to understand and solve problems.

We often hear ourselves or others saying we need better communication or better listening. But what does that mean? What are the questions and practices that make up better communication and listening? When things go wrong, do we know what might be happening? Dialogue is a rich, multi-layered set of skills that can be explored for a lifetime.

Come and learn about how what we say and hear shapes our view of the world and shapes the outcome of our mutual endeavors. Join us! We are just getting started.

See you on June 2nd!
