Waking Up White: Final Book Discussion
Wednesday, January 19, 7–8:30 p.m. via Zoom
Sponsored by UUC’s Antiracism Study Group
As part of UUC’s discernment process about what it means to be an antiracist congregation, UUC’s Antiracism Study Group offered Waking Up White: And Finding Myself in the Story of Race by Debby Irving as a summer reading program. Please join us on Wednesday, January 19, from 7–8:30 p.m. on Zoom for our third and final discussion of this excellent book, led this time by the Rev. Beth Chronister. Please come even if you missed the first and/or second conversation. At this January gathering we will be discussing the entire book.
If you have not read the book, you still have time! Our UUC Bookstore has copies of the book for purchase or it can be ordered online from the UUA bookstore. New and used copies are also available from other booksellers, and copies may be available at the Seattle Public Library.
Please register and join us! At this time, the discussion is scheduled to be online-only. Those registered will receive Zoom meeting number and passcode in the week before the meeting, and any update to meeting format (i.e. if it will be safe to have a “hybrid” meeting with an in-person contingent meeting at the same time for those who would prefer).
IMPORTANT: Be sure to click the blue “Register” button at the end of the registration form to submit your registration. Look for your confirmation notice via email. If you do not receive it within a few minutes, please try the registration process again, or email firstname.lastname@example.org. IF YOU DO NOT RECEIVE A CONFIRMATION EMAIL, YOU ARE NOT REGISTERED!
