Nominating Committee Forming: Seeking Members

The UUC Bylaws adopted at our January 2022 congregational meeting direct the UUC Board of Trustees to 

appoint a Nominating Committee to recruit, screen, and prepare a slate of candidates for open/unexpired Trustee or Moderator positions. The Nominating Committee shall be chaired by a Trustee who will not be a candidate in the coming election and shall include at least three (3) to five (5) additional Members who are not currently holding or seeking elected office.

Finding the right and best elected leaders for UUC’s future is fundamentally important to the strength of our community. This nominating role matters greatly.  We are looking for individuals who:

  • care deeply about the future of UUC, embracing our mission and vision,
  • have an understanding of what strategic and policy leadership at UUC entails,
  • are comfortable reaching out to encourage others to consider elected leadership roles, while fairly assessing if potential candidates are well-suited to such roles,
  • will consider inclusion and diversity while doing such work. 

The  Board is slated to appoint the Nominating Committee in November.  The Committee’s active period for recruiting and screening prospective candidates will be January through April.  Board Member John Crusius will be the committee chair.
