New Reflection Groups in February

Reflection Groups are a spiritual deepening opportunity we have been trying here at UUC. They have come out of the longer Wellspring experience many of you have had over the years. There have been two so far: the first based on the book Welcoming the Unwelcome by Pema Chodron, the second currently going on using Braiding Sweetgrass by Robin Kimmerer. These are small groups that meet for six sessions, twice a month over three months. They focus on spiritual practice and reflection on texts. We have had 65 participants so far.

Our next book will be See No Stranger by Valarie Kaur, whose spiritual home is Sikh. We are very excited about this book! We want people to have some time to be thinking about these groups and so are getting out the preliminary information at this time. There will be an application process in January for the new groups that will start in February. Anyone can apply—no previous experience is necessary. Perhaps you have been waiting to join a small group with a spiritual focus and this is the time.

Here is a TED talk to give you a flavor of Valarie and her concept of Revolutionary Love: https://www.ted.com/talks/valarie_kaur_3_lessons_of_revolutionary_love_in_a_time_of_rage?language=en
