Sunday, October 9, 1:30–3:30 p.m. reception

Please join us on Sunday, October 9, at a reception for artist Don Haggerty. He will give a brief presentation about his work at 1:30 p.m. Refreshments will be served. Don will also be available for coffee and conversation at the Art Committee Learning Station during coffee hour following the second service in Nathan Johnson Hall at 12:15 p.m.

Don Haggerty’s show is entitled “Transcendence: A Return to Silence.” Dancers have long been the subject matter of his paintings, allowing him to “tap into the endless inspirations to be found in overlapped and intertwined groupings of active figures,” often silhouetted, often dimly lit, often other-worldly. And while visually rich, the large oil paintings in this show press deeper to unveil their layers of meaning as they “reverberate” with their titles and with the lines of poetry composed by Don to accompany each work. Information can also be found on the artist’s website,

The artwork is for sale, and a portion of each sale benefits UUC. To make a purchase, look for an Art Committee member wearing a red button. The exhibit will be on display October 2 through November 18.
