Green Buildings Now

Sunday, May 1, in person during the service, online or by mail

The “second Sunday” Social Justice Plate collection is a week early this month.* Our contributions this Sunday will go to Green Buildings Now, a coalition of climate action groups and individuals committed to reducing Seattle’s greenhouse gas emissions from buildings.

The work of Green Buildings Now (GBN) is aligned with our UU principles and values around justice, equity, and compassion for all. GBN addresses the moral imperative posed by the climate emergency by focusing on the urgent need to decarbonize buildings in a way that brings the benefits of non-polluting electric power to historically marginalized communities. This work is intended to raise public awareness of the need for a just transition and to build support for government action sufficient to accomplish this goal more broadly.

You may add your donation to the collection plate in person on Sunday, donate online through UUC Connect (select “Special Plate”) or send your check to the UUC office, writing “May Social Justice Plate” on the memo line.

* May 8 is Music Sunday, and the plate collection will support the UUC music program.
