Join UUC’s Teen Feed Meal Team

First Friday of each month, 5:30–8:30 p.m.
The UUC Teen Feed Meal Team needs a few more volunteers to join our Friday meal team. Our Friday team prepares meals on the first Friday of the month, from 5:30–8:30 p.m. Contact Pam if you’d like to learn more about joining the Friday Meal Team.

Since March 2020, UUC’s Meal Team has continued to provide meals, adapting their work during the pandemic. Rather than having 8–10 from UUC’s team onsite, a small team of 4–5 makes the entree onsite, while 4–6 other families prepare items at home. Teen Feed staff served up the to-go boxes to teens while checking in with them about resources, needs and health concerns. Then, in January 2022, the UUC Meal Team began serving the teens onsite again at the Teen Feed location in the U District, with some from the team still making up desserts or side dishes at home. In addition, the UUC Meal Team continues to make to-go boxes for both a local youth shelter and also for a community refrigerator for others who are unhoused in the University-District neighborhood.

UUC has been partnering with the Teen Feed organization for over a dozen years. Teen Feed provides support, advocacy and meals to unhoused teens in the University District. UUC’s Meal Team prepares and serves 18 meals each year, supporting Teen Feed in fostering trusting relationships where they can assist teens as they identify resources and establish goals. Teen Feed’s mission is to aid teens in connecting with resources and ally with them as they establish goals for their future off the streets. Our intergenerational team, and dozens of others, prepare and serve a nightly meal that both meets a basic need and provides an environment where teens can map out plans related to education, employment, healthcare and more.
