Elementary and World Religions Moving Inside
Sunday, January 23, 11:15 a.m. in Alcott and Channing
Melody Moberg, Director of Family Ministry
Throughout the fall, UUC’s Family Ministry program hosted outdoor Elementary and World Religions (grades 6–7) classes at 11:15 a.m. on Sundays. We provided an outdoor education model to make the programs safer for kids and 6th graders who were not yet eligible for Covid-19 vaccination. Now, most of our 5–12 year-olds are fully vaccinated, so our programs are moving inside starting this Sunday, January 23. Elementary programs will meet in the Alcott classroom (also known as the “Spirit Play room”) at 11:15 a.m. in the Family Ministry suite, upstairs. World Religions will meet at 11:15 a.m. in the Channing classroom below the chapel.
As always, we ask for folks to continue wearing masks and practicing social distancing. Elementary and World Religions students should be fully vaccinated to attend indoor programming. Sprouts care for kids under age 4½, which includes children who are not yet eligible for vaccination, will continue in the Potter classroom.
We are continuing to provide both in-person and online religious education programming. Our in-person programming is on Sunday mornings at UUC, for families who want to gather in person. Online programming is offered collaboratively with other Unitarian Universalist Congregations across the Puget Sound region. We hope offering a combination of in-person and online programs will make Family Ministry programs accessible both to families who are comfortable meeting in person, and those who are not yet comfortable meeting in person. In all, our kids and middle schoolers were brave and resilient meeting outside. We had a lot of fun, too! Check out some images from the past few months of outdoor programs.
