Economic Justice Team Meeting
Sunday, September 25, 12:30–2:00 p.m. via Zoom
At our meeting on Sunday we will plan efforts in the coming year to help address economic inequity. We’ll discuss how to best support efforts to aid people in need locally and statewide, such as the proposed tent city at UUC, continued support for organizations including Lake City Partners Ending Homelessness, Teen Feed, and Habitat for Humanity.
Although pandemic relief programs and some Washington State legislation passed last year helped ameliorate economic inequality, Washington remains the state with the most regressive tax system in the country. Families with income less than $24,000 face an effective tax rate nearly six times higher than families with income more than $545,900.
