Article II Study Commission: Draft Feedback Sessions

September 24, 25, 26, 27, 28 & 29 via Zoom
(More to come in October/early November)

[Editor’s note: Remember when we were discussing adopting the 8th UU Principle? Many people commented that they supported the idea, but the wording needed work. Now here’s your chance to give feedback to the people doing the work. Article II of the UUA’s Bylaws are where our seven Principles are listed.]

The UUA’s Article II Study Commission has been working through the feedback from General Assembly, and are engaging in our next round of drafting. Once again, we’d like your feedback on different sections to help us as we work.

In September 2022, with the assistance of our new Outreach Team, we’re scheduling ten Zoom sessions at various times for people to look at draft language and discuss it. Hopefully, one of them will work with your schedule. We’ll have a link available for feedback.

Another round of revision will follow, with more feedback sessions in late October/early November. After we let it simmer over the holidays, we will put together our proposal in early 2023 to send to the board. The proposal will be considered in mini-assemblies before the vote at General Assembly 2023.

You’ll need to register to attend a session. When you do, you’ll get the draft via email. We look forward to hearing from you as we help chart the future of our faith together!

If you have questions and would like to talk to someone local, contact Meta Thayer, UUC member.

Happy to see this! Folks who want to see what the developing draft language is can see a PDF at this link: [Removed link to an individual’s document]. Big changes for the principles and sources, to be replaced by values and inspirations, and more.

Hello, Jonathan. We have decided to remove the link you provided to an individual’s interpretation of presentations by the UUA’s Article II Commission. Instead, we encourage UUC congregants and others to go directly to the official posts of the Commission for more information on their charge and progress reports: We also encourage feedback directly to the Commission, as the post above describes. (We won’t continue a discussion in the comments here.) – Janine Larsen, UUC Director of Ministries
