Waking Up White: A Three-Part Book Discussion

Cover of Waking Up White: And Finding Myself in the Story of Race, by Debby Irving

Wednesdays, December 15 and January 19, 7–8:30 p.m. via Zoom

Sponsored by UUC’s Antiracism Study Group

As part of UUC’s discernment process about what it means to be an antiracist congregation, UUC’s Antiracism Study Group offered Waking Up White: And Finding Myself in the Story of Race by Debby Irving as a summer reading program. Please join us on Wednesday, December 15, from 7–8:30 p.m. on Zoom for our second discussion of this excellent book, led this time by the Rev Justin Almeida. Please come even if you missed the first conversation. At our December gathering we will be talking about the book through Chapter 29. Our final discussion, on January 19, will include the entire book, and will be led by Rev. Beth Chronister.

If you have not read the book, you still have time! Our UUC Bookstore has copies of the book for purchase (stop in Sunday morning); it can be ordered from the UUA bookstore. New and used copies are also available from other booksellers, and copies may be available at the Seattle Public Library.
