Supporting Afghan Refugee Families
On the second Sunday of each month, we dedicate our offering plate to an outside organization working to create more just and compassionate communities. This month, we will be sharing our plate with the Emergency Afghan Refugee Fund to support Afghan refugee families arriving in Washington State. This fund has been launched by the Muslim Association of Puget Sound, one of UUC’s Interfaith Partners, through their social services and Humanitarian arm, MRMC (Muslim Community Resources Center). 100% of the funds received through this Emergency Afghan Refugee Fund will be used to support Afghan refugees resettle in Washington state. Your contributions will help provide housing support, food assistance, furniture, household goods, medical and legal help, vocational training and other services these families need.
Please join in welcoming and supporting these families, forced from their homeland at a time of devastating crisis and having to restart their lives. Look for a Gateway article (and blog post) next week from UUC’s Immigrant Justice Team for more ways to support Afghan Refugees.
