Sunday Coffee Suspended; Omicron Updates Announced

As the Omicron variant contributes to a rapidly emerging spike in local COVID cases, we are concerned about increased vulnerability in our congregation as holiday gatherings commence and pandemic protocols seem to be held more loosely in the larger community.

Out of an abundance of caution, UUC is suspending food & beverage service and consumption indoors beginning immediately and extending through at least January 2. This includes Sunday Coffee & Conversations December 19 and January 2, cancels the potluck brunch that had been planned for December 26, and excludes refreshments for small groups, events, and receptions until further notice. We will not be offering coffee stations outside, as we did earlier in the year, given inclement weather as winter progresses.

UUC’s other pandemic protocols—limiting attendance to vaccinated only, requiring facemasks for all, suspending congregational singing, encouraging distancing and hand hygiene, and offering excellent indoor ventilation—remain aligned with current guidelines set by the CDC and public health officials, including Public Health — Seattle & King County.

We strongly encourage eligible adults, youth, and children to complete vaccinations and boosters as soon as possible. As we continue to monitor local case counts and public health guidelines into the New Year, we will update you on further developments.

From all of us at UUC, we wish you and your family a happy, healthy holiday season and New Year. May the coming weeks bring us fully together again, sharing meals and coffee and spontaneous conversations with one another, hugging again, and singing out together in joy—and may it be soon!
