Invitation to a Listening Circle on the Proposed 8th UU Principle
Sunday, April 11, 10:45 a.m.–Noon via Zoom
The UUC Racial Justice Team invites you to share your reflections on the 8th Principle during a Listening Circle following the April 11 worship service.
All voices are welcome—concerns, questions, agree, disagree, curious, need more information—we want to hear from you! The Listening Circle is not a discussion group, the purpose is to listen to each other with open hearts and minds and with respect for differing opinions. As time allows, the facilitators will respond to questions after we listen to each other as we share our reflections on the 8th Principle. There will be opportunities later in this process to engage in discussion and dialogue as we continue to explore the 8th Principle and what it means to be an antiracist congregation.
Find the Zoom link in UUC Connect (login required) or contact the church office. The Zoom room will open at 10:40 a.m. and we will begin at 10:45 a.m. We ask that you please arrive on time; we will be closing the room at 10:50 a.m. Our Racial Justice Team Co-Chair, Kira McCoy, will be available at (303) 947-6583 for last minute questions about entering the session.
The Listening Circle will be within a relational structure and in the spirit of Beloved Community as defined by Rev. Shirley Strong:
I understand the term Beloved Community to mean an inclusive, interrelated society based on love, justice, compassion, responsibility, shared power and a respect for all people, places, and things…”
