Wednesday, December 8, Service of Solace, 7–8 p.m. in the UUC chapel or via live stream
Please join our annual Winter Service of Solace for a meditative evening of music, candle lighting and reflection. The holidays can be a particularly poignant time for anyone who is grieving a loss or missing a loved one around the dinner table. This service is designed to hold space for grief during the holidays and is also open to anyone needing an evening of respite and reflection from some of the forced cheer of the Christmas season. The hope of this service is to provide people a place just to be and have their hearts held.
This service is open to the community—bring a friend who might be in need of some solace this season. Free childcare is available. Email email@example.com to register your child. You can join in person at UUC or attend via livestream at https://www.uuchurch.org/service-of-solace-live-stream/.
This event is organized by UUC’s Care Team and Rev. Beth Chronister.
Thursday, December 23, Family Holiday Service, 7–8 p.m. online only
The Family Holiday Service will be pre-recorded and broadcast at 7 p.m. on December 23 this year.
This worship service combines our annual Family Candlelight Service and Family Holiday Service, and will include the nativity story, Santa Lucia, prayers for peace, and readings. Music by the UUC Bell Choir; IGC; Miriam Gnagy, soprano; and Dwight Beckmeyer, piano. The live stream will be in a post at the top of our home page (uuchurch.org) at 7 p.m. on December 23. Family Holiday Service Watch Party: 6:45 p.m. via Zoom
Come in your PJ’s and bring your favorite cozy beverage! The Watch Party Zoom room will open at 6:45 p.m. We’ll start with some silly, winter-themed, icebreaker games and have conversation while we wait for the service recording to drop. At 7 p.m., we’ll watch the service together via Zoom. After the service is done, participants are welcome to stick around for more games and conversation. UUC members and friends of all ages are welcome to join in the fun. Click here to register for the online watch party.
Friday, December 24, Christmas Eve Candlelight Service, 9–10 p.m. in the UUC chapel or via live stream
UUC’s traditional Christmas Eve service of Lessons and Carols and individual candle-lighting. Music by Cecilia Archuleta, violin, and Dwight Beckmeyer, piano; Miriam Gnagy, soprano, and John Carrington, harp (via video) and the UUC Loft Choir (via video).
Sunday, December 26, Intergenerational Service
and Holiday Potluck Brunch, 11:15 a.m. in the Chapel and via live stream
On the Sunday following Christmas, we will have only one service at 11:15 a.m. led by Rev. Beth Chronister and Aria Curtis, UUC’s Family Ministry Coordinator. This service will be intentionally intergenerational.
Unfortunately, we have had to cancel plans for a potluck brunch following this service, due to concerns around the rapid spread of the latest pandemic variant. But we’ll have some fun together nonetheless, including one last chance to show off your best (or worst) holiday sweaters!
