Teen Feed – There’s Still Time to Give
September’s Social Justice Plate Collection benefits Teen Feed. Your generosity funds UUC’s Meal Team and its 16 year partnership with Teen Feed. In particular, these funds cover expenses for groceries and supplies for UUC’s crew to prepare and serve 18 meals each year. This year, UUC will prepare nearly 1,500 boxed meals. With about 1,000 homeless teens in King County, the need is great.
Our UUC Meal Team numbers 30, and spans 3 generations and 6 decades. It is indeed an intergenerational effort, with several teens and young adults involved. Plus, over the last six months—as some from UUC’s Meal Team prepare food at home—children of all ages have been able to join parents in baking cookies, creating snack packs of cut veggies or making large pans of mashed potatoes. Last Sunday, volunteers from two families shared their experiences. Ella & Julia Carnell, and the Christensen family.
