Friday, November 13, 7:00-7:45 p.m. via Zoom

Diwali, often called the Festival of Lights, is a five-day festival in India, celebrating new beginnings and the victory of the forces of life, over the forces of darkness. In this short introduction to the important holiday, we’ll learn a little bit about the different traditions associated Diwali and try making Coconut Lardo, a popular treat for Diwali.

Participants who would like to make Coconut Lardo will need: 1 cup sweetened condensed milk, 2.5 cups of desiccated coconut (plus a little extra), 1 Tablespoon ghee or butter, pinch of cardamom powder, ¼ cup roasted and chopped pistachios, skillet and stovetop.

UUC members of all ages are invited to learn more about Diwali. To join this event on Zoom, look for “Zoom Links for UUC Weekdays” post on UUC Connect.
