Progress on the Habitat for Humanity Build in Lake City
UUC has long had a commitment to low-income housing. On March 8 our Second Sunday Plate Collection donation totaled almost $5,000 for Habitat for Humanity of Seattle-King County. Their latest low-income home-ownership project is 16 Habitat for Humanity townhouses under construction in Lake City, just south of the Fred Meyer store.
Pictured (as of July 17) are the first four townhouses on 35th Avenue NE, topped out, and the next four being framed. Another eight will be built behind when these are finished. The project is expected to take another 18 months.
Construction is continuing with a limited crew of “regular volunteers” during the week, with all COVID-19 precautions in place. UUC will be participating in an Interfaith Build day in September, with limited space for volunteers.
