June 28 Service at 10 a.m.
Sunday, June 28, 10:00 a.m. via live stream
On Sunday, June 28, UUC members and friends have the opportunity to join thousands of other Unitarian Universalists for a nationally livestreamed General Assembly (GA) Sunday Service. This will serve as our UUC Sunday Service that day, and will air from 10:00-11:00 a.m., a half-hour later than our usual Sunday service. A recording will be available to watch on the UUA website afterwards. UUC will post a link to that service on our Worship page, as we do with our own Sunday services.
The annual General Assembly of the Unitarian Universalist Association (UUA) is entirely online this year, in response to public health needs related to the coronavirus. It runs from June 24-28. At least 14 UUC members and friends are already registered to attend. (UPDATE 6/25: We have 28 UUC members and friends registered for GA, which includes our full complement of 11 voting delegates, Rev. Jon, Rev. Beth, and RE Coordinator Aria Curtis.)
GA registration is a flat $150 for everyone this year. To find out more or to register, see www.uua.org/ga. (And see this article for information about scholarships offered by the UUA Pacific Northwest District.)
As usual, several excellent workshops are available to registrants. Some will be presented live online, others are pre-recorded and available to registrants on-demand. Program descriptions can be found here (scroll down to “Programming”). To see the schedule, view the Program Book (PDF), or use the free, downloadable GA Mobile App.
A few GA events are available via live stream to the public during GA. Links to these are listed in UUC’s calendar. These include all business sessions and official reports, the Service of the Living Tradition (6/25), Synergy Bridging Worship (6/26), and the Sunday Service (6/28).
We hope that UUC delegates and other GA attendees will offer a Virtual Coffee Hour via Zoom after the live stream. This will be announced next week if so, and will likely be from 11-11:45 a.m. (UPDATE 6/25: YES, this informal “report out” from our GA delegates and registrants will happen, and will be our only virtual coffee hour gathering on June 28. To find the Zoom meeting link for this gathering, see our “Zoom Links for UUC Sundays” post in UUC Connect, our password-protected resource for members and friends. Email the church office if you need assistance.)
