Plan Ahead: Islam and Women
Saturday, March 7, 2-4 p.m. in Nathan Johnson Hall
Curious about the status of Muslim women in the U.S., and how this compares with Muslim-majority countries? How do Muslim women view the significance of the hijab, and why do only some wear it?
Please join us for a panel presentation, “Islam and Women,” led by Aneelah Afzali, Executive Director of the American Muslim Empowerment Network (Muslim Association of Puget Sound), along with other panelists, to be announced. Ms. Afzali, who spoke from the UUC pulpit last summer, is a leading figure in women’s empowerment within her faith community, and in ecumenical outreach to other faiths.
UUC’s Solidarity with Muslim Communities team promotes relationship-building and engagement with Seattle-area Muslim communities, to further effective and appropriate modes of ally-ship against Islamophobia.
