Over $4150 in Support of Habitat for Humanity

Habitat for Humanity project at 35th NE near NE 125th

On March 15 UUC was joined by a wonderful guest speaker, one of the prospective owners of homes now being built in Lake City by Habitat for Humanity. Habitat is currently building 16 townhouses on land donated by the City of Seattle. Together, low-income families and volunteers will build the houses over the next two years. This is the “sweat equity” model of low-income home ownership.

By supporting this new Habitat for Humanity build just north on 35th Ave NE in Lake City, UUC is renewing its commitment to the cause of housing and continuing a long commitment to joining Habitat builds. UUC’s Economic Justice Team is leading our participation on this project.

The first step is giving this substantial contribution from the congregation. The next step will be to schedule a summer Saturday when we can volunteer as a team of up to 20. In addition, individual volunteers ages 16 and over will be welcome on weekdays. No special skills are required.

Thank you for your generosity!
