Join UUC’s Social Justice Steering Committee
Would you like to help support existing and emerging justice initiatives at UUC? The Social Justice Steering Committee (SJSC) is seeking people to join Rev. Beth and other UUC members in our work to enable UUC’s vibrant range of justice work. We are seeking people of varied ages, identities, and lived experience to strengthen our work together.
The SJSC guides and supports our new and ongoing justice ministries, plans plate collections to benefit the wider community, works to grow and sustain our partnerships with other community groups with similar missions, and provides opportunities to connect UUC members and friends with social justice initiatives both within the church as well as in the wider community. The SJSC is involved in a dynamic, evolving process to respond to emerging justice opportunities and challenges as they arise and to work with other members and friends to formulate meaningful capacities to respond.
Expectations of Committee Members include:
- Three year term (beginning in September), with flexibility for a shorter term.
- Monthly meetings, typically a weeknight from 7-8:30 p.m. The meetings are held on Zoom.
- Some additional commitments outside of monthly meetings.
- Attendance at an annual retreat in September.
- Must be a member of UUC.
To start a conversation with the SJSC about how you could be involved, send a brief email to Richard Brooks (firstname.lastname@example.org) describing your background and interest in the Committee by June 19. Contact Richard with any questions. Thank you.
