Decolonizing Wealth Book Discussion
On September 15, twelve UUC members/friends gathered on Zoom for a discussion of the book Decolonizing Wealth: Indigenous Wisdom to Heal Divides and Restore Balance by Edgar Villanueva. We had a provocative and very timely discussion of the basic question posed by the author: What if money could be used to heal and restore? This question referred to possible ways that individuals and institutions could move toward equity in giving in what is currently a white supremacy driven system. The group raised the question of how church related giving and systems could change.
The session was facilitated by Susan Howlett and Carolyn Cunningham, and the event was co-sponsored by UUC’s Stewardship, Equity and Social Justice teams.
